Distribution-centre security is a specific discipline, and it is not estate guarding with a bigger fence. The risk sits almost entirely in legitimate movement — trucks, drivers, pickers and contractors passing through continuously, every one of them with a reason to be there. Shrinkage on a site like this is rarely a break-in; it leaves through a gate that was open for a good reason, on paperwork that looked correct.
That makes the work documentary as much as physical. Vehicles reconciled against despatch paperwork on the way out, not only on the way in. Driver and contractor access controlled at the point it actually matters. Seals checked and recorded. Cold-chain and high-value lines given attention proportionate to what they are worth. And a record afterwards that holds up when a client needs to establish what left a site and when.
The relationship began in 2013 and now spans both provinces. That matters more than the length of it: a retail group with sites in Gauteng and the Western Cape can either run two providers to two standards, or one provider across both — with the same reporting, the same escalation route and one account relationship rather than two.
The group's facility manager describes a high-volume distribution centre as needing a partner that understands logistics, 24-hour operations and loss prevention, and singles out adaptability: managing a constant flow of delivery vehicles one moment, overseeing the safety of large warehouse teams the next.
One line from the letter is worth repeating because it is unusual to see a client write it. They note the respect JBA shows its own guards, and that it is visible in how those guards perform on site — motivated, vigilant, taking genuine pride in the work. How a provider treats its officers tends to show up on the ground, and clients notice.
“Operating a high-volume DC requires a security partner that understands the complexities of logistics, 24-hour operations, and loss prevention. JBA Security has consistently risen to the challenge. Their team is exceptionally disciplined, punctual, and maintains the strict professional standards necessary for our specialized environment.”
